2 pilgrims killed, 6 injured in mishap

KISHTWAR, May 31: Two pilgrims were killed and six received injuries when their vehicle met with an accident near Shanderi Nallah in Sohal area of Padder today.

Police said the vehicle ferrying eight Mindal Mata pilgrims was on its way from Jammu when the accident took place near Shanderi Nallah in Sohal area of Padder here.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
All the eight pilgrims were rushed to a hospital in Atholi, where doctors declared two of them as brought dead.
After first aid, the six injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar from where four were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for specialised treatment.
The deceased were identified as Mangat Ram (55), son of Anant Ram, a resident of Lower Muthi District Jammu and Vikram Singh alias Baba of Rehari District Jammu. The injured were identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal of Rajpura District Jammu, Vipul Khajuria, son of Shashi Bhushan of Subash Nagar, District Jammu, Suraj Parkash, son of Kola Ram of Dhab Sudan, District Jammu, Krishan Lal, son of Girdhari Lal of Peer Mitha, District Jammu, Mewa Ram, son of Jagu Ram of Mishriwala, District Jammu and Vijay Sharma, son of Suraj Parkash of Dhab Sudan, Kanachack District Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Atholi and investigation started.
