2 pickpockets nabbed in Kulgam

Srinagar, May 3: Police in Kulgam today arrested two pickpockets, recovering a stolen cash amount of Rs 50,000 from their possession.
Authorities stated that following several complaints, a case vide FIR No. 54/2024 under relevant sections of the law was registered, and an investigation was set into motion.
“During the course of the investigation, intensified patrolling and surveillance activities were carried out. After strenuous efforts and swift action by a team of Kulgam Police led by SHO Police Station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP HQRS Kulgam, a list of suspects was prepared,” police stated.
During the questioning of the identified suspects, police said, the investigation zeroed in on two individuals identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Gani Sheikh, resident of Dassen Yaripora, and Rouf Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd Rafiq Mir, resident of Yaripora.
“During questioning, both individuals confessed their involvement in the said crime, and from their possession, a stolen cash amount of Rs 50,000 and a vehicle (Motorcycle) bearing registration number JK18-5061, which was used in committing the said crime, have been seized.”
Moreover, they also revealed that they were using the trend of providing lifts to pedestrians from one place to another, and in-between, they would commit thefts such as pickpocketing.
