25 more positive in Kashmir, J&K tally 666

Srinagar, May 2: Two patients admitted to two territory care hospitals of Kashmir were among 25 who tested positive today leading to concerns about the safety of hospital staff and functioning of these hospitals.

Those tested positive today include 13 members of two families from Rainawari area of Srinagar taking the Jammu and Kashmir COVID-19 positive tally to 666.
Among the fresh cases in the Valley, six were confirmed at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura and include three each from Shopian and Baramulla districts.
And 19 people tested positive for Coronavirus at Chest Disease Hospital Dalgate Lab and include 15 from Srinagar and four from Anantnag district.
Those who tested positive include a woman admitted at maternity hospital Lal Ded in Srinagar and it led to panic as the woman had just delivered a baby.
Hospital Administration asked security guards, some doctors and nurses to go for quarantine while there samples have already been taken.
A pregnant woman, a resident of Achabal Anantnag was brought here in Lal Ded hospital during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Her samples were taken and she was admitted in Labour Room where already three patients were admitted.
The woman delivered a baby and shortly after the delivery, her test for COVID-19 was declared positive. This news created panic in the hospital as a number of people especially medical staff had come in her contact.
The patients who were in the ward with her have been isolated and 2 doctors and 8 nurses of the hospital have been quarantined. Few security guards of the hospital have also been quarantined.
And a patient admitted from the last seven days, in super-specialty hospital at Shireenbagh here, has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus, leading to concern among the doctors and the hospital staff.
A 55-year woman admitted to the hospital a week ago was to be operated upon on Thursday last. However, the surgery was delayed as her test for COVID-19 was awaited. He tested positive for Coronavirus.
There were two patients whose surgeries were conducted and at least 12 other patients shared the same ward as that of the now COVID-19 patient. However, the two patients whose surgeries were conducted tested negative.
The patient was actually shifted from SMHS hospital where she was admitted for a few days.
Authorities took samples of all the 14 patients in the ward for Novel Coronavirus while around 30 hospital staff including around half a dozen doctors and they were shifted to either administrative or home quarantine. If any of staff in the hospital tests positive it will be a major set back to fight against COVID-19.
The Super-Specialty hospital Shireenbagh provides facilities like Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology and Oncology.
And positive cases from Srinagar include eight members of a family of a woman from Rainawari who died earlier this week. They include 60-year-old man, his 55-year-old wife, their two sons aged 25 besides the 23-year-old woman and her 19-year-old brother, a 6-year-old boy and a 48-year-old woman.
The five others from the same family include 33-year-old Imam, his 30-year-old wife and their 2-year-old son and two daughters aged 4 and 5 years. They are actually residents of Lolab Kupwara and are residing in Batpora area of Rainawari from the last few years.
The two other cases from Srinagar include a 33-year-old from Narwara area of Eidgah and a nursing orderly at LD hospital, originally a resident of Samba and puts up in a guest house at Solina area of Srinagar.
Anantnag district reported four more cases today and include 3-year-old and 6-year-old boys from Larnoo besides 46-year-old and 48-year-old men from Trehwani Anantnag.
The three cases from Shopian include an 11-year-old boy and two women aged 45 and 55 years from Heerpora, one of the worst-hit areas in Shopian district.
The Baramulla cases include 20-year-old from Hardchiloo, Tangmarg and a 40-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man from Kanlibagh.
And seven more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir today.
So far, 23460 tests were conducted and 22794 samples have tested negative and 666 as positive.
Administration has enlisted 74083 travellers and persons in contact with suspected Corona positive cases for surveillance which include 9816 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 188 in Hospital Quarantine, 404 in hospital isolation and 7174 under home surveillance. Besides, 56493 persons have completed their surveillance period.
With today’s fresh cases, Bandipora has 128 positive cases including 91 active followed by Srinagar with 106 cases including 35 active, 99 in Anantnag with 97 active cases, 88 in Baramulla with 59 active, 77 in Shopian with 58 active,55 in Kupwara 55 with 34 active, 21 in Budgam 21 with 10 active,14 in Ganderbal and all have recovered, 11 in Kulgam with 8 active and 7 in Pulwama with 4 active.
