REASI, June 19: Police today arrested two notorious criminals cum drug peddlers and seized cannabis like substance from their possession.
During surprise naka checking at Chaklass, team of Police Station Mahore intercepted a vehicle Eco bearing registration number JK02B 1941, which was coming from Gool towards Mahore. From the vehicle, two notorious drug peddlers namely Masood ul Hassan son of Mohd Iqbal and Jamal Din son of Mohd Amin, both residents of Bassan Tehsil Thuroo were arrested after recovery of 380 gms of cannabis like substance from their possession.
In this regard case FIR number 36/2021 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Mahore and investigations initiated.
Both the accused are of dubious characters. Masood has remained involved in bovines smuggling also and FIR number 32/2021 U/S 188 IPC and 11 PC Act stands registered against him at Police Station Arnas.
Other accused Jamal Din is involved in FIR number 04/2010 U/S 458, 382, RPC, 4/25 Arms Act and FIR number 19/2010 U/S 392, 34 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act of Police Station Mahore and has been facing trial in the court of law. He will be put under continuous surveillance after opening his history sheet, Police said.
Meanwhile, in an instance of illicit liquor smuggling, team of Police Station Pouni apprehended a bootlegger, identified as Mangi Singh son of Kaka Singh of Kharlair tehsil Pouni. Five litres of hooch and 100 liters of Lahan were recovered from his possession. Police seized the hooch and destroyed the Lahan on the spot.
In this regards, FIR number 35/2021 U/S 48 a, Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Pouni.
