RAJOURI, June 26: The police arrested two narcotic peddlers from Khawas area of district Rajouri and recovered some quantity of poppy straw from their possession.
Official sources said that a police party from Police Post, Khawas, under the close supervision SHO Budhal Inspector Parveen Kumar laid a naka at Khawas Chowk. During routine checking a motorcycle bearing registration number JK11F-2125 was stopped.
On being intercepted, both the rider and the pillion rider attempted to escape from the spot However, due to swift and alert action by the police personnel both were apprehended.
During personal search nearly 600 grams of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of Mohd Shakeel, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Kari while over 500 grams of similar substance was seized from Abdul Majeed, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Khawas.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 63/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budhal and investigation is in progress.
