2 more notorious drug peddlers detained under PIT NDPS Act

REASI, May 8: District Police Reasi has detained two more notorious drug peddlers under the stringent PITNDPS Act and lodged them in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The detained accused have been identified as: Ajay Singh, son of Rattan Singh, resident of Ladda, Tehsil Moungri, District Udhampur, A/P Dadura Panthal, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, and Jamat Ali alias Jamad, son of Abdul Haq, resident of Village Khari Paroh, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, who were repeatedly found engaged in drug trafficking activities in the district.
The accused persons were previously involved in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act involving recovery of heroin, charas, poppy straw and psychotropic substances. FSL reports in the heroin cases had also confirmed the presence of Diacetyl Morphine (heroin).
In view of their continuous involvement in drug peddling and persistent activities aimed at supplying narcotics to the youth, Police Station Katra initiated action under the PITNDPS Act. Accordingly, Ajay Singh was detained vide detention order number 14 of 2026 dated 06-05-2026, while Jamat Ali alias Jamad was detained vide detention order number 15 of 2026 dated 06-05-2026, both issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Despite repeated warnings and legal action under the NDPS Act, the accused continued indulging in illegal narcotics trade for monetary gains, thereby posing a serious threat to society and the younger generation.
Acting on the directions of SSP Reasi, Mukund Tibrewal, detailed dossiers were prepared and submitted for necessary action. Following approval and issuance of the detention orders by Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the accused were apprehended by a team from Police Station Katra and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
