2 militants of AGuH killed

SRINAGAR, Sept 14: Two militants of Ansarul Gazwatul Hind (AGuH) were killed in an encounter in Nowgam area of Srinagar this evening.
Acting on specific information generated by police regarding the presence of militants in Dangerpora area of Nowgam in Srinagar, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by police and 50 RR of Army in the area this evening.
During the search operation, as the security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. They have been identified as Aijaz Rasool Najar of Pulwama and Shahid Ahmad alias Abu Hamza.
As per police records, both the killed militants were categorized terrorists and were linked with proscribed AGuH.
They were involved in several militancy related crime cases including attacks on police, security forces and civilians.
“Besides, they were also involved in recent attack on an outside labourer Muneer ul Islam of West Bengal on 02/09/2022 at Ugergund Newa area of Pulwama,” police records suggest.
“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one AK series rifle, two Pistols and one grenade were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” police added.
In the meantime, militants this evening lobbed a grenade on security forces in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The militants attacked 180 Bn of CRPF with a grenade in Tral area. He said that, however, no casualties have been reported in the incident so far.
The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
