2 militant associates held

SRINAGAR, Feb 15: Police arrested two militant associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Tehreeq-ul-Mujahideen (TuM) and recovered incriminating materials from their possession.
Police said that they along with 53RR of Army arrested two militant associates of LeT and TuM. They have been identified as Sameer Ahmed Ittoo and Ubaid Ameen Mallah, both residents of district Kulgam. “Incriminating materials including flags, banners and letter pad have been recovered from their possession”, police added.
“During the preliminary investigation, it has come to fore that these persons were involved in grenade lobbying incidents in Pulwama and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir, besides they were making posters, banners and flags of banned terror organisations on the directions of their handlers across borders for further distribution at various locations in Central and South Kashmir. They were also actively involved in recruiting terrorists and OGWs with the aim to carry further terror activities in Budgam”, police said.
A case (FIR No 6/2020) under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chadoora and further investigation initiated.
“Pertinently, the timely action by the police and security forces has prevented major terror crimes in the area”, police said.
