SRINAGAR, Jan 14: Police today arrested two militant associates along with arms and ammunition in Khojpura Zainapora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Police said that the two arrested militant associates were about to join militant ranks. They tried to escape from the spot but police and security forces managed to apprehend them. They were identified as Asif Aziz Ganie son of Abdul Aziz Ganie of Reban and Sahil Nawaz Khan son of Haq Nawaz Khan of Khojpura.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession which include 31 live rounds of 5.56 45mm, 33 live rounds of 7.62 51mm and 10 live rounds of 7.62 39mm.
In the meantime, a grenade was found inside a bag in which a pressure cooker was fitted by wires at Khawjabazar area of Nowhatta, Srinagar today. It was destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
Security forces today recovered a cache of ammunition during a search operation in forest area of Watlar in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Special Operation Group (SOG) 24RR and police launched a search operation in Watlar area and recovered cache of ammunition from a hideout. During the search operation, 60 AK rounds, along with two grenades, 3 UBGL, seven detonators, three fuses, one bag and one pouch were recovered.
