2 KP families allege harassment by land grabbers

JAMMU, May 27: Two Kashmiri Pandit families have alleged harassment and threat to their lives by some land grabbers in Muthi area.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ravinder Raina, Rajesh Raina and their families while producing court registry and other revenue documents claimed that they had purchased land from private party in Muthi area during 2006 and accordingly, after getting all the revenue papers from Patwari and Tehsildar and plot was get registered in Jammu court. They had covered the area and also raised fencing.
Now about two weeks back, they started construction on the land, after some time some unknown land grabbers appeared and started threatening, claiming that land belonged to them. They showed the documents and also asked to show the same if they had. But they did not do it but made the labourers and mason to flee. Raina family said they moved to Domana Police Station to lodge report but they did not entertained. And assured that some cops will visit the site next day and asked to carry on with the work. When again the work was started, some people again appeared and started violence and also broke the plinth. They also manhandled them. ” We again moved to the SHO Domana but he did not show any interest to help us. Another report was lodged with the SDPO Domana on May 23 but again there was no action at all,” then added.
They alleged that some cops are helping the land mafia people and not helping the law abiding citizens. The other party has failed to produce any land documents and police is also helping them. They sought intervention of DGP and IGP Jammu and Divisional Commissioner Jammu into the matter.
SHO, Domana, Rajeshwar Singh Slathia when contacted claimed that the said land belonged to one Shamsher Singh. That party got it fenced in 2017. Ravinder Raina and his family claimed that the same land belonged to them. We examined the papers as well. He claimed that other party has lodged FIR against Ravidner Raina. Tehsildar had also visited the said land on the direction of a local court and he had directed for status quo. SHO said since it is revenue matter police has no much role to play in it.
