2 killed, 7 injured as auto falls into river Sewa

KATHUA, Nov 22: Two persons including an auto driver were killed while seven others were injured when an auto in which they were traveling fell into river Sewa in Sarthali in Bani tehsil of Kathua district this afternoon.
According to SHO Bani, Brahm Dev, the auto was on its way from Sarthali to Bani and hardly it had crossed over 150 yards it fell 200 feet down in the river Sewa while negotiating a sharp curve.
The driver of auto Shakeel Ahmed 28, S/o Akhtar Bhat of Sarthali and another passenger identified as Haroon Malik an employee of Revenue Department who was sitting along the driver were killed on spot.
He said soon after the accident local people and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured people and shifted them to Bani Hospital. Out of seven injured two were critical and they were shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment, he added.
The dead bodies have been kept in Bani Hospital and they will be handed over to their respective families after postmortem tomorrow.
The Bani police has registered a case in this regard also. The two serious passengers shifted to GMC were identified as Angrez Singh, 32, S/o Sanchit Ram and Haju Ram, 35, S/o Dugal.
The injured admitted in Bani Hospital included Manish Mohammed S/o Mohammed Latif of Koti, Girdhari Lal S/o Ram Chand of Bacon, Naresh Kumar S/o Singo of Sandi, Beena, wife of Shanti Kumar  and her four year old daughter Rita residents of Bacon.
