JAMMU, May 5: Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) arrested two inter-state narcotics smugglers with 32 kilograms of hashish.
According to SP ANTF Vinay Sharma, information from reliable sources was received by ANTF that some unknown persons who are travelling in a truck bearing registration number JK05E-3859 are going outside Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are carrying large quantity of narcotic substances.
“On this information, ANTF swung into action and nakas were laid at various places. Near Environmental Park, Narwal Sidhra bypass, the said truck was intercepted and during checking, 32 kilograms of hashish was recovered from the vehicle”, SP said, adding that two persons were arrested on the spot, who were identified as Arif Nazir Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Seikh of Lar, District Ganderbal and Zahid Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad of Thuru, District Ganderbal.
“The arrested persons disclosed that the consignment was to be delivered at Mumbai. Truck has been seized and a case under FIR Number 3/21 under Section 8/20/29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu”, SP Vinay Sharma informed.
He added that ANTF is investigating the forward and backward linkages of this inter-state narco dealers and more arrests are expected.
