2 held with old notes worth lakhs

Srinagar, Mar 11:  Two persons were today arrested by Railway Police at Mazhama railway station in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district along with old scrapped currency notes worth over Rs. 34 lakh.
An official said that following a specific input, Railway Police officials intercepted two persons identified as Farooq Ahmad Labru and Mohammad Shafi Labru when they were about to board train at Mazhama railway station.
On being checked, the official said, Railway Police officials recovered scrapped notes of Rs 500 denomination worth 34.90 lakh from their possession. The official further said that a gold chain, ring and pendulum were also recovered from the duo, who are brothers. Meanwhile, a case has been registered in this regard and the duo is being questioned, the official added.
