Srinagar, June 27: Three persons drowned in South Kashmir in two separate mishaps today.
A police spokesman said a 4-year-old girl Urfi Jan, daughter of Mohammad Iqbal Ganai of Pethnambal Mattan in Mattan drowned in a canal near her house. The body was fished out and handed over to her relatives for last rites.
In another incident, a girl, aged 16 and her grandmother drowned in Larie stream in Waged area of Tral tehsil.
Saima (16), daughter of Abdul Gani Mir, alongwith her grandmother Rehmati, 70, slipped into the canal. Their bodies were retrieved later by locals.
