2 drug peddlers held with heroin

JAMMU, Mar 19: Two drug peddlers were arrested by police in RS Pura area today and 13 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that a police team of RS Pura Police Station led by PSI Ishfaq Ahmed Kasana while on routine patrolling established a naka at Balah near Shamshan Ghat for checking.
During frisking, he said, police found two pedestrians trying to flee from the spot suspiciously.
“They were accordingly chased and overpowered. During search of their belongings, 13 grams of heroin was recovered,” the police spokesperson said.
SHO RS Pura Pawan Kumar identified the duo as Mandeep Singh alias Makkhan of Balah, Suchetgarh, Jammu and Deepak Singh of Kotli Riyan, Suchetgarh, Jammu.
“The duo has been booked in case FIR number 50/2023 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation taken up,” the SHO RS Pura told the Excelsior.
