2 drug peddlers detained under PSA

REASI, Sept 15: Two drug peddlers, including a woman were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) in district Reasi today.
Official sources said that the Police teams conducted raids at two places in Reasi and detained two notorious drug- peddlers under the PSA. They were identified as Anit Kumar alias Rinku, son of Hem Raj, resident of Latori Kundrorian and Maya Mir, wife of Late Anwar Mir, resident of slum area ( Jhugian) near Railway Station, Katra.
Police said Anit Kumar Rinku was involved in four drug peddling cases registered at Katra Police Station while Mir in three different cases of the same nature. The two had been warned by police several times against indulging in illicit activities but they continued selling drugs to the youths in Katra and Reasi area, police said.
On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Amit Gupta, PSA dossiers of Rinku Kumar and Maya were prepared and sent for approval, he said
The SSP said police is using a multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse. On the one hand, awareness programmes are being organised across Reasi and on the other, drug peddlers are being booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.
