JAMMU, Dec 18: Bakshi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested two drug peddlers and recovered around 800 grams of cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bakshi Nagar Police Station laid a naka and signaled a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BP-7362 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered around 800 grams cannabis from the possession of two persons traveling in the vehicle and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sumesh Zutshi (driver), son of Rattan Lal Zutshi of Om Nagar Udheywala and Shiv Kumar, son of Jagdish Kumar of Lower Shiv Nagar, Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 172/18 under section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in drugs peddling.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Naresh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Sheema Nabi Qasba, SP City Amrit Pal Singh and DIG JKS Range/SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
