2 drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR, Dec 27: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian and Budgam districts and recovered contraband substances from them.
A Police spokesman in a statement said that police in Shopian arrested a drug-peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party from Police Post Keegam during naka at Haji crossing intercepted a suspicious person. “During search, 896 grams charas was recovered from his possession.
He has been identified as Shamim Ahmad Bhat, resident of Poterwal Keegam. He has been arrested and a case FIR No. 275/2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.
In Budgam, police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from him in Chadoora area of the district.
During routine patrol at Ganjibagh village police intercepted a suspicious person with a nylon bag. Upon search of the bag, police recovered a semi-grinded charas weighing approximately 7 kilograms and 910 grams.
The accused has been identified as Mehraban Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Qayoom Bhat, resident of Gopalpora. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 208/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation has been initiated.
