UDHAMPUR, Nov 27: Udhampur Police today arrested two drug peddlers from Jakhani naka point and from their possession, recovered 35 kg poppy straw that was being smuggled in a truck.
The truck, bearing Registration Number PB0AS-0735 was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Chaman Gorka under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs.
The arrested accused were identified as Nitish Koshal (driver), son of Rakesh Kumar of Hoshiarpur, Punjab and his associate Paranjeet Singh, son of Ranveer Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
A case FIR under relevant section of law has been registered in this connection at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway. The truck was also seized.
