2 dozen animals, birds burnt alive

RAJOURI, Dec 8: At least two dozen cattle and chickens were burnt alive as a cattle-shed caught fire in Kalakote area last night.
Official sources said that in Badanu Panchayat under Dharamsal Police Station of Kalakote sub-division a fire broke out in the cattle shed of a poor villager on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, under suspicious circumstances. Around 25 animals/ birds kept in the animal shed adjacent to the house also died due to scorching heat .
The house owner Shamo Devi, wife Late Sukhram, was alone at home while others had gone to relative’s house. She woke up hearing screams of cattle but the cattle shed was burning in huge flames. The people of the area also reached the spot and tried to control the fire, but due to lack of fire fighting facility in the area, people could not control the fire.
