2-day workshop on Maternal & Child Health Guidelines held

Leh, Nov 22:  Two days orientation-cum-dissemination workshop organised by National Health Mission, J&K on Maternal & Child Health Guidelines was held here today.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NHM, J&K & Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Services, Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yashpal Sharma urged for plugging of gaps in the delivery of essential services through action at various levels of the healthcare delivery system so that best maternal and child health care is provided to the community.
He said, “what is needed, was the close monitoring, dedication and professional acumen of the medical and paramedical staff deployed in various health institutions”. He said though NRHM have provided both infrastructural as well as manpower strengthening in Health Department besides adequate equipments in health institutions, onus lies on medical & paramedical Staff to appropriately use these healthcare facilities with a missionary mode and  update their knowledge with latest guidelines to serve the community.
Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Servies  appreciated the support provided by National Health Mission in creating better health infrastructure and service delivery through various programme and schemes from time to time.
On the occasion, Performance Review Document of Health Department for the year 2013-14 & Operational Guidelines of State Health Society, J&K for the year 2014-15 were also released by Dr Saleem Ur Rehman.
Dr Phunsokh Wangchuk, Chief Medical Officer Leh said that the Health Department is committed to provide quality health care in the region and requested for adequate funding from National Health Mission, J&K. Dr Shabir Hussain, Chief Medical Officer, Kargil requested for including the Kargil District in the list of High Priority Districts for enhanced funding under National Health Mission.
