KATHUA, Sept 26: A two day workshop on Safety Accident Prevention & Disaster Management was today inaugurated in GDC Kathua by Dr B L Gupta, Principal of the College.
As per a release, the workshop was sponsored by Government of India under National Training Programme (NPT). The workshop was conducted by D S Sarma Chief Engineer (retd) Central Institute of Rural Electrification (CIRE) Hyderabad in collaboration with Power Development Department (PDD) Sub Transmission Department (STD) Kathua.
The main purpose of the workshop was to provide in hand training to the field technicians, particularly linemen, Meter readers, electricians and other field workers. During the workshop, course material with CD containing various precautions to be observed under tool kit for the utility of the field technicians will be provided.
The inaugural address was presented by Principal Dr B L Gupta who threw light on high voltage transmission and precautions to be observed in dealing with high voltage equipments in order to avoid any casualty. Er D S Sarma made a power point on the various causes and hazards due to wrong handling electrical equipments. K K Thapa Executive Engineer, STD Kathua stressed on sue of safety kits and tools during repairing in high voltage equipments.
Karam Chand Executive Engineer, PDD Kathua, Bavinder Kundal, Executive Engineer Inspection Division, Jammu province and M P Singh AEE were also present in the workshop.
