JAMMU, Sept 26: Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) conducted Inter-Collegiate Wrestling Competition (Men), Kho-Kho (Men and Women) Tournaments and volleyball (Men) Championship at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
FINAL RESULTS:
In 57 Kg, Riaz Mohd, GDC Paloura claimed Gold, Sunil Singh of GDC Samba clinched Silver,Rajan Jasrotia of GGM Science College won Bronze and Ankush of GDC Akhnoor bagged Bronze, Paramveer Singh of GGM Science College won gold, Neelam Singh of GDC Udhampur bagged silver, Rakesh of GDC Samba claimed Bronze and Shiva Kumar of GDC Kathua clinched bronze.
In 65Kg, Lalu Din of GDC Kathua won gold, Suresh Singh of GDC Hiranagar bagged Silver, Surjeet Singh of GDC samba claimed Bronze, Gaurav Singh of SPMR College of Commerce won bronze, Jaqar Hussain of PG Department clinched gold, Shabir Choudhary of MAM College bagged silver, Ajay Sharma of GDC Hiranagar and Ranjit Singh of GDC of Rajouri claimed bronze.
Sadiq Hussain of GDC Hiranagar won gold, Ashiq Hussain of GDC Kathua clinched silver while Jeevan Jot Singh of PG Department and Gaurav Singh of GDC Udhampur claimed bronze. Aman Khajuria of PG Department bagged gold, Subash Singh of GDC Kathua won silver while Shubam Sharma of GDC Akhnoor and Rajan Kumar of GDC RS Pura clinched bronze. Mohd Asif of PG Department bagged Gold, Amit Gautam of GDC Kathua won silver whereas Simranjeet Singh of SPMR College of Commerce and Deepak Jyoti of GDC RS Pura clinched bronze. Tanvir Singh of GDC Kathua won gold, Ashwani Singh of MAM College claimed silver and Madhav Kapoor of SPMR College of Commerce and Roshan Singh of GDC Hiranagar bagged bronze.
The overall Inter-Collegiate Wrestling (M) Championship for the year 2014-15 was won by Government Degree College Kathua with 20 points while PG Department remained runner-up with 16 points.
BK Magotra, founder Director, Directorate of Sports, was the chief guest on the occasion and awarded the trophy to the winning team. Prof Dhian S Bhau, presided over the function while HS Chib, Narayani Jamwal, Dr Mandeep Singh, Prof Ram Singh Sambyal, Dev Raj, Handball Coach, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, PD Singh were also present. The Championship was conducted by Jai Bharat.
In Men’s Section of Inter -Collegiate Kho-Kho (M&W) Tournaments, two matches were played, one between GGM Science College and GDC Rajouri and the other between GDC Kathua and GDC Mendhar. In 1st match GGM Science College won by 3 points while in 2nd match GDC Kathua downplayed its rival by 22 points.
In Women’s Section, WC Udhampur defeated GDC Akhnoor by 2 points while GWC Gandhi Nagar downplayed GWC Kathua by 10 points.
In Inter Collegiate Volleyball (M) Championship, PG Department lifted the trophy by outplaying GDC Udhampur by (3-1) sets with set scores (25-14, 25-19, 08-25, 25-21).
Earlier, in first semi-final GDC Udhampur beat GDC Ramnagar by (3-0) sets and also PG Dept outplayed GDC Hiranagar with (3-0) sets.
Vinay Manhas, Naseeb Singh and Abhishek Sharma were the star performers in final from PG Departments while Aquib and Arun Kotwal fought well from GDC Udhampur.
The matches were officiated by Roshal Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sangita Bhatt and Priya Charak.
Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfares, was the chief guest at the occasion and distributed the trophies among the winners. The final match was conducted by Vikas Karlopia, Volleyball Coach, University of Jammu.
All the matches of the competitions were played under the direct supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
