2-day Science & Mathematics Exhibition begins

JAMMU, Aug 19: Two day Divisional Level Jawahar Lal Nehru Science and Mathematics Exhibition (JLSMEE) started here today at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
The exhibition, organized by the State Institute of Education, was inaugurated by Secretary to Government School Education Department, Nirmal Sharma, in the presence of Director School Education, Jammu H.R. Parkhroo.
Chief Education Officer Jammu, Tarsem Lal, Principal of GGHSS Shastri Nagar, Farida Javed, staff of SIE besides faculty members and students in large numbers were also present on the occasion.
In the exhibition, 55 models were put on display by those students who had stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd at Elementary, Secondary and Higher Secondary level exhibitions organized by the DIETs of their respective districts.
Nirmal Sharma, took keen interest in the models displayed by the students and while interacting with them asked about the utility of their concept. She appreciated the efforts of the students put in for preparing models to depict innovative concepts in science, mathematics, besides suggesting solutions for environment protection.
She asked them to utilize their scientific temper for betterment of the society and emphasized the need to organize such exhibitions every year so as to provide platform to the students to showcase their hidden talent and innovative ideas.
In his welcome address, Director School Education Jammu highlighted the importance of holding such exhibitions for imbibing scientific temper among the students.
