2-day national seminar on Kashmiri, Sindhi literature concludes

JAMMU, Mar 14: Two -day national seminar on displacement literature of Kashmiri and Sindhi languages concluded here today.
Speaking during the concluding session  Dr. Ravi Tekchandani the Director of National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (NCPSL) said that he would be happy to organise similar programmes in J&K in future and gave a detailed account of schemes of the council the scholars of J&K could benefit from. He further said that Kashmiri scholars should fight for having a Kashmiri Council on the pattern of Sindhi council which could go a long way in promotion of Kashmiri language and literature.
On the occasion the Sindhi scholars and members of NCPSL were felicitated by the members of Kashmir Cultural Trust by presenting them a cup of bronze the cultural symbol of Kashmiri Pandits.
Aruna Jethwani the vice chairperson of the Council declared that Council could finance a research project in the Jammu University or at any other Institution on the displacement literature of both languages in case some scholar is ready to take up this work.
During the open session 20 scholars from both languages presented their point of view on various aspects of subject and gave some valuable suggestions about preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of two communities. Those  who participated included Prof  R.L.Shant, Dr.M.K.Koul, M.L.Kemmu, Dr.Agnishekhar,  Arvind Shah, Prof Omkar Koul,  B.N. Betab, P.N.Shad, Prof Hiro Thakur Dr.Ajwani,Dr. Govind Sharma,Prof Talashi, Prof Majroh Rashid, etc .
The young minds like Promila Kaul Pandita, .Rahul Kilam , Aryan Ramesh a social activist, Rajinder Raina and Priya Pandita gave a youth perspective on the subject.
Dr. Roop Krishen Bhat the Managing Trustee for Kashmir Cultural Trust and the coordinator of  this programme said that the Kashmiri literature written by the displaced  writers for last 20 years  is of very high quality and international standard but there is an attempt by the vested elements  to undermine it., He  cautioned the scholars against such elements.
