2-day Mela at Manzgam begins

JAMMU, June 9: The two -day long Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela started at holy shrine of Mata at Manzgam in South Kashmir district of Kulgam with the performing of pooja of traditional Sandal tree at the shrine today.
A large number of devotees drawn from Jammu and other parts of country thronged the holy shrine from yesterday evening to participate in the celebrations there.
The pooja was held under the supervision of Dr A K Kaul. The religious scholars highlighted the history of the Sandal tree and said that from times immemorial it was being worshipped by the devotees on the occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
The president of the Mata Kheer Bhawani Trust, Manzgam, Kuldeep Raina said that elaborate arrangements of barding lodging have been made for the pilgrims in the shrine. He said the authorities have also rendered a full cooperation to the Trust in making the arrangements.
