KAKRYAL, Mar 29: The 2-day Inter-College Nursing Fest- Tarang-2019, being organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, commenced here today.
In all, 300 students from various Nursing Colleges of the State, including the host institution, are participating in the mega Fest. Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, who was chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the event by unfolding the theme of the Nursing Fest.
Speaking on the occasion, Simrandeep Singh observed that Nursing is a noble profession and one of the best career options having tremendous scope in the job market within the country and beyond. He lauded the SMVDCoN for organising Tarang 2019 which has brought together young nursing professionals from various nursing colleges. He further said that the event, being second in the series organised by the SMVDCoN, will facilitate sharing of experiential knowledge by the nursing students of the participating colleges as also promotes camaraderie.
Shalini Bernard, Chief Nursing Officer, Max Hospital, Dehradun, who was the guest of honour at the inaugural function, appreciated the quality of nursing education being imparted by the SMVDCoN, adding that the institution has all the wherewithal and infrastructure to emerge as a centre of excellence in nursing education.
Dr (Brig) M M Harjai, Administrator, SMVDCoN, presented welcome address, while Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College, gave vote of thanks.
Students of the SMVDCoN presented a dance performance on this occasion which was highly appreciated by the audience.
The events being organised during the Nursing Fest include debate, street play, Rangoli and Collage making, face painting, working model competition, sports and cultural activities.
Among those present on the occasion, included Dr A K Sharma, Director Medical Services of the Shrine Board; Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB; Rakesh Wazir, president, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra; faculty, staff and students of the SMVDCoN and other participating colleges.
