POONCH, Aug 26: Two boys were drowned in Mendhar river while bathing while third one was rescued by the locals at Dabraj village, near the Line of control in district Poonch today.
A police official while giving details told the Excelsior that incident took place when three boys in the age group of 16-19 years, had gone to Mendhar river near their village during this afternoon. They did not know how to swim and started bathing.

While two boys started drowning in the river, the third raised alarm and tried his best to save them but he himself got trapped into the deep water and also started drowning. He was later rescued by the villagers. But the two other boys could not be rescued in time.
A police party from Mendhar led by SHO, Inspector Mohd Amin also reached the spot. The dead bodies of both the boys were later fished out.
The deceased were identified as, Shakeel Ahmed (19), son of Mohd Bashir and Mohd Azhar (16), son of Mohd Farooq, both residents of Dabraj village in Mendhar. The rescued boy namely Wasim Akram (18), son of Mohd Shabir, also resident of Dabraj was removed to Sub District Hospital, Mendhar in serious condition and then referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu.
