2 bovine smugglers held

JAMMU, July 23: Police today arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued 13 milch animals from their possession.
Police spokesman said that, on a tip off, police party from Banihal police station laid a naka on National Highway and intercepted a Srinagar bound Tata Mobile bearing registration no JKO5B 3565. During checking, police recovered 4 milch animals and arrested driver Mukhtyar Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani Gujjar, resident of Qazigund, spokesman said, adding, that a case under FIR No 124/12 stands registered at police station Banihal.
In another incident, police party from Gool Police Station arrested one person namely Ashiq Hussain, son of Amkulah of Gool along with 4 milch animals, which he was illegally trying to smuggle to valley on foot. In this connection case under FIR No 44/12 has been registered at police station Gool.
Meanwhile, police party from Kathua police station, on specific inputs about bovine smuggling, laid a naka at Maggar Khad and intercepted Punjab bound one Bolero Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK21 7705. During checking, police recovered five bovine animals, while as manhunt was on to nab the absconding driver identified as Manshu, son of Rehmat Ali of Gujjar Basti, Sunjwan, Samba. A case under FIR No 275/12 has been registered at police station Kathua.
