KATRA, May 3: Foiling three separate attempts of liquor smuggling and drug peddling, Katra Police today arrested two bootleggers and a drug peddler. 79 pouches of liquor and 750 gm poppy straw was recovered from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs, a Police team, led by SHO Katra, during patrolling at Bus Stand Katra, succeeded in recovery of 40 poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of Darshan Lal of Nagrota Jammu. Police arrested the accused and seized the liquor besides registering a case in this connection.
In another success, Katra Police recovered 39 poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the possession of Kulwant Singh of Ransoo, Pouni, during special naka at Matyal near Petrol Pump. The accused was on way towards Katra from Udhampur side while riding a Scooty Activa Honda, bearing registration number .JK20/8784, in which the liquor pouches were seized. Police seized the liquor as well as the scooty besides arresting the accused.
Meanwhile, acting on specific information, Katra Police, during checking/frisking at PCP Searly, arrested a drug peddler and recovered Poppy Straw (Bhuki) weighing 750 gms from his possession. The accused was identified as Raj Singh of Pangath, Katra. He was on way towards Katra from Udhampur side in a Tavera vehicle, bearing registration number .3836/JK20.
Police arrested the accused and seized recovered Poppy Straw as well as the vehicle.
