2 autos torched in Valley

SRINAGAR, Nov 22: Three persons including a toddler were injured and two auto rickshaws were torched and dozens of vehicles damaged as miscreants tried to enforce shutdown in various parts of Kashmir today.
Sources said that two auto rickshaws were torched at Zaldagar area of Srinagar this evening for defying the separatist strike call. Several vehicles were also damaged by these miscreants.
An auto rickshaw was badly damaged in stone pelting in Nawa Kadal area of Srinagar and its driver received head injury. The driver was hospitalized.
In the evening, stone-pelting clashes were reported from Nawa Kadal, Fateh Kadal and Kawdara areas of Old City between forces and youth. Police lobbed teargas shells towards the youth and the clashes continued for an hour.
Police said a girl child of three years age was critically injured in a stone pelting incident in Botingoo Bijbehara this evening.
A Police spokesman said that this evening some miscreants pelted stones upon one Trailer truck bearing registration Number. JK03E/3303 and one Truck at Botingoo  Bijbehara, resulting in injuries to 3 persons including three years old Sarika Jan.
Sarika daughter of Showkat Ahmed of Botingo, who was boarding  the Trailer, has suffered critical head injury. Two more persons Aqib Ahmad Dar  son of Abdul Majeed of Maisuma Srinagar and  Zahoor Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool of Bandipora were also injured in this incident.
The injured persons were shifted to DH Anantnag for medical treatment, wherefrom the  toddler Sarika Jan has been referred to SKIMS, Soura for further treatment. A case has been registered and manhunt launched to nab the culprits.
A shopkeeper Muhammad Altaf Ganai was seriously wounded after he was attacked with stones by miscreants for defying shutdown at Nikas village of Pulwama. He was shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar where his condition is being stated critical.
In the meantime, a shutdown was observed on second consecutive day after two day relaxation ended yesterday during which there was increased movement of traffic on the roads and many shops were also open.
Shops, commercial establishments, financial and educational institutes and petrol pumps were closed in Srinagar while public transport was also mostly off the roads. However, private transport was plying normally across the city and some passenger vehicles were also plying in Civil Line areas.
In downtown areas falling under five police stations, the authorities re-deployed security forces including police and CRPF to prevent outbreak of protests.
Several shops were seen open from many uptown localities of city including Jawahar Nagar, Sanat Nagar, Chhanapora, Dalgate, Batwara, Karan Nagar, Kak Sarai and Rajbagh.
