19 passengers injured in accident

JAMMU, Aug 24: Nineteen passengers were injured when the mini-bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into gorge at Garkhal village of tehsil Akhnoor here today.
As per police sources, a mini-bus was on its way to Pargwal from Akhnoor when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into gorge at Garkhal village, resulting into injuries to 19 passengers. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
On getting information, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Hilal Azhar rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
All the injured persons were rushed to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor, from where two seriously injured persons were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialised treatment.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
