UDHAMPUR, Oct 2: Chenani police today seized 19 kg of poppy straw from a Punjab based smuggler, who was carrying the consignment in a truck, which was intercepted at Chenani Domail.
Based on a reliable information regarding smuggling of poppy straw, a police party of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Parmjeet Singh, under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Rajeev Pandy, laid a naka near Chenani Domail and intercepted the truck bearing registration number PB13BD-5876. During thorough search, 19 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck.
Driver of the truck, identified as Satnam Singh, son of Darshan Singh of Prnal Punjab, was arrested on the spot while the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle were seized.
In this connection, an FIR under Section 8 /15/29 NDPS ACT has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case is going on.
