RAJOURI, Apr 19: At least 18 persons were injured in a road accident near Aitti in Rajouri district today.
Reports said the incident took place when a speeding Tempo Traveller went out of control and rolled down from the road near Aitti crusher and turned turtle.
Soon after the incident, rescue teams and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to nearby health institutions for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Azishan (23), son of Abdul Hameed, resident of Sajj; Abrar Ahmed (30), son of Mohd Pervaiz from Darhal; Mohd Moreed (34), son of Mohd Moreed Lal from Behair; Shahid Ahmed (32), son of Mohd Rafiq from Darhal; Shamim Akhter (42), wife of Amin Shah from Khrud; Shamim Akhter (24), wife of Liaquat Hussain from Kala Ban; Isama Kouser (20), daughter of Mohd Shabir from Dodaj; Naseem Akhter (40) wife of Mohd Nazir from Bathuni Thikrian; Mohd Nazir (65), son of Faqeer Mohd from Bathuni Thikrian; Toshiba Rehman (18) daughter of Abdul Rehman; Mohd Tazeem, son of Orangzaib from Neeli, Darhal; Mohd Shabir (67), son of Said Ullah from Dodaj; Haseena Kouser (35), wife of Mumtaz Hussain from Darhal; Muskrat Ali (40), son of Shokat Ali from Ward No. 8 Rajouri; Wahida Fatima (35), wife of Irfan Ahmed from Badhnoo; Tofeeq Ahmed (20), son of Orangzaib from Topa in Darhal; Umaria (13), daughter of Mumtaz Ahmed from Dodaj in Darhal and Bassar Hussain (40), son of Mohd Jaan from Neeli in Darhal.
All the injured are undergoing treatment in Rajouri hospital.
Principal of Government Medical College Rajouri, Dr AS Bhatia, along with Medical Superintendent GMC Rajouri, Dr. Shamim Chowdhury visited GMC Hospital Rajouri to assess the condition of the injured and review the medical arrangement given to them. They interacted with the patients and medical staff.
Meanwhile, in a separate road accident on link road at Panjgrain, an Alto car (JK11E-9165) reportedly skidded off the road and got stuck in nearby bushes.The driver, Zahoor Ahmed, son of Manzoor Hussain from Thandapani, Tehsil Manjakote, sustained minor injuries in the incident. His condition is stated to be stable.
