18 injured in road accidents

MENDHAR, July 8: At least 18 persons were injured in two separate road accidents in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
Reports said at least 13 persons were injured after a Tata Sumo No. JK-12/8925, which was on its way to Mendhar from  Mankote skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Sakhi Maidan this morning. A total 16 passengers including driver were on board the vehicle. The injured were removed to Sub District Hospital Mendhar where most of them were discharged after providing treatment/ first-aid by the Medical staff.  The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
In yet another car accident a Junior engineer of  PDD and his four family members were injured in Mendhar area this evening. The accident took place at a bridge near Gursai at around 6 pm. The JE along with wife, two minor daughter and brother-in-law  was on way to Kashmir in Alto car No. JK02AX/6668. The car fell into the nallah from the bridge.  All the injured were removed to Mendhar hospital by the locals of the area and police.
They were identified as JE Iqbal Sarwar Khan posted in Mendhar,  wife Sazia Zaheer,  Ameeza and Mudi Sarwar Khan –minor daughters  and Rouf Khan- brother-in-law.
