RAMBAN, June 15: Ramsoo police foiled bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 18 milch animals and arresting a driver.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramsoo police station laid a naka on National Highway 44 and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK19-0353 to stop.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the active cops of Ramsoo police station chased the vehicle and intercepted it at some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 18 bovine animals and arrested the driver of the vehicle on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal, son of Gul Mohammad, a resident of Chamalwas, tehsil Banihal, District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 36/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered against the smuggler at police station Ramsoo and investigation started.
The police party led by SHO Ramsoo police station Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban, Randeep Kumar.
