JAMMU, Apr 27: A 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging self at his residence in Purkhoo area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, the boy identified as Akhil Sharma son of Mangal Dass Sharma, a resident of Purkhoo, hanged himself with a ceiling fan at his residence. In unconscious condition, the family members immediately rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites this afternoon after conducting post mortem and completion of other legal formalities.
A case in this regard has been registered at Kanachak police station and investigations started to ascertain the conditions which prompted the minor boy to take this extreme step.
