POONCH, Apr 4: At least 17 structures were partially/ fully dismantled during anti-encroachment drive in Poonch city today.
Immediately after taking over the charge, the new Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Mohd Ajaz Asad paid visit to the entire market and some congested area of Mandi and Surankote and took the meeting of the officers two days ago. He directed them to make city congestion free by removing illegal encroachments on lanes and roads besides other public places including bus stands.
Today, a team led by Tehsildar Haveli Jahangir Khan, assisted by police and Municipal staff launched operation along with a JCB in the market near Qila Bazar and partially/ fully demolished nearly 17 structures. More than three dozen Rehadis/ Fadis were lifted and seized by the authorities.
The traders and others were warned to remove encroachment at their own otherwise, authorities would use all means to clear the Bus Stands, main markets, roads and lanes in Poonch city and other major towns of district Poonch including Mendhar, Mandi and Surankote within coming days.
