17 kgs charas seized, 3 held

UDHAMPUR, July 5: The police today achieved a major success by busting a gang of three narcotic smugglers including one interstate narcotic smuggler and making a recovery of huge consignment of high quality charas (cannabis) from their possession.
According to the police sources on specific information, the police party of Police Station Udhampur led by Chaman Gorka, SHO, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan DySp Hqrs, Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakhani Naka point for checking of vehicles.
During naka checking, a police party stopped one vehicle Tavera bearing Registration Number JK03D-1924 for checking. During checking of above said vehicle, 17 Kgs of charas was recovered from the possession of three accused persons namely, Aadil Ahmed, son of Ghulam Hassan of Anantnag, Chandrakant Dadaroji, son of Suryakant Guhe of Maharashtra alongwith Abid Hussain Shah, son of Mohd Ramzan of Anantnag, who was arrested on spot and vehicle seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 253/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, another case laid a naka at Jakhani naka point for checking of vehicles during naka checking, police party apprehended one suspicious person who tried to conceal his presence from the checking party.
During his search, 270 grams of heroin (Chita), was recovered from the possession of the above said person namely as Mohd Majid, son of Jamal Din of Thard Bali, Udhampur arrested on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 249/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
