17 bovines rescued, 4 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 13: Udhampur Police foiled three separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 17 bovines besides arresting four smugglers.
The Police team of PP Ghordi, acting on specific information intercepted a vehicle (JK21J-4295) at Barmeen, Ramnagar, in which 10 buffaloes were being smuggled in a cruel manner without fodder.
Accused Fiqwa, son of Mohd. Ali of Upper Barmeen was arrested and the vehicle was seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 46/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Ramnagar.
Police team of PP Ghordi intercepted another vehicle (Auto Load Carrier) (JK14H-9417) at Barmeen, Ramnagar, carrying 05 bovines in a cruel manner without valid permission.
Accused namely Mohinder Singh son of Trilok Singh of Baneen was arrested and the vehicle was seized. In this regard, a case FIR No. 47/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Ramnagar.
Meanwhile, Police team of Police Station Ramnagar intercepted two persons namely Manzoor Hussain, son of Baaz Din and Mohd Iqbal, son of Yousaf, both residents of Nagrota Panjgrain, Tehsil Ramnagar, who were smuggling two bovine animals on foot from Badhole towards Srinagar.
Both accused were apprehended on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 45/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Ramnagar.
