UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: Udhampur Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 17 animals besides arresting two smugglers at Naka checking on Jammu -Udhampur National Highway, near Tikri.
Reports said that a police party, led by Inspector Jaswinder Singh, IC PP Tikri, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur, signaled to stop a truck bearing registration number JK12A-7454 for checking. Even as the truck driver attempted to flee along with the vehicle, Police party chased the vehicle and apprehended the accused a little ahead from the naka point.
During search, 17 bovine animals were found loaded in the truck without any valid permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and smugglers namely Mohd Irfan, son of Jinga Hassan of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Mohd Ashraf son of Talib Hussain of Reasi, were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, case under relevant section of law has been registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
