JAMMU, June 24: The J&K State Paramedical Council today successfully conducted the examination of about 16000 students of different streams in the State.
In Jammu division, a total of 7553 students appeared. Out of them, 1574 and 944 were of Female Multipurpose Health Worker for Part I and II respectively, 285 and 206 students of Male Multipurpose Health Worker stream for Part I and II, 706, 388 and 449 students of 1st year, 3rd year and 4th year of General Nursing Midwifery Stream and 1064 and 549 of Medical Assistant / Pharmacist 1st and 2nd year.
Rest of the students were of the streams of Lab Assistant, Ophthalmic Assistant, X-ray Technician, Dental Assistant, Sanitary Inspector, Anaesthesia Assistant, ECG, D-Pharmacy and Pharmacist Indian System of Medicine who appeared in different examination centres across Jammu Division.
In Jammu district, 4044 students appeared in five centres. In Kishtwar,175 students appeared in one centre, in Doda 299 students appeared, in Poonch 473 students, in Rajouri 603 students, in Udhampur 787 students and in Kathua 1172 students appeared in 4 different centres.
A team headed by Dr (Prof) Sunanda Raina, Principal / Dean, GMC Jammu and Vice President, J&K State Paramedical Council Jammu accompanied by Dr Sandeep Singh, Registrar and Dr (Prof) A S Bhatia, Controller of Examinations, J&K State Paramedical Council, Jammu inspected the centres of Jammu throughout the day.
In Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil, a total number of 8500 students appeared in paramedical examination in 16 identified centres. A team headed by Dr (Prof) Samia Rashid, Principal / Dean, GMC, Srinagar and President, J&K State Paramedical Council accompanied by other officers of the Department including Dr Abdul Rashid Badoo, Controller of Examinations inspected the centres of Srinagar throughout the day.
It is pertinent to mention that in order to streamline the working of various Government AMT/ANMT/ANM/GNM and Private Paramedical Institutions, a fixed Calendar have been adopted for various Academic Activities. Dr (Prof) Sunanda Raina disclosed that it is now a regular feature to conduct two examinations every year in order to save the precious academic years of the students and further strict steps are being initiated to improve the paramedical training, in order to have highly experienced and well trained paramedical personnel in the State. This will help in improving the existing health infrastructure in the State.
Dr (Prof) A S Bhatia said that steps have been initiated to revise the aged old syllabus of paramedical teaching and training programmes. He stressed that the new syllabus are being finalized based upon the new spectrum of diseases emerging today and more importantly in J&K. The syllabus is being modified keeping in view various endemic diseases of three regions of State.
