16 vehicles with 116 bovines seized, 3 smugglers nabbed

RAJOURI,  Aug 13:  In a major over night operation, the police and para-military force personnel with the initiative of local  Administration, seized 16 Tata mobile vehicles and rescued 116 bovine animals from Thannamandi area when the smugglers were moving towards Kashmir via Mughal Road during last night.
Official sources said that local Police,  assisted by CRPF men laid nakka near Chhrung bridge on Rajouri-Thannamandi  Road  during last mid night and intercepted 16 vehicles loaded with bovine animals.  Some of the animals were being taken on foot just to cross naka point.  The police party during one and half hour  operation,  rescued about 116 bovine animals. It is said that most of the vehicles crossed several police nakas while coming from Sunderbani,  Akhnoor and Kalakote side but managed their onward journey by ‘influencing’ people deployed for checking on the highway.
Most of the cattle had been packed badly in the vehicles with the help of ropes. While majority of the smugglers were  managed to escape, only three of them were arrested by police. They were identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi,  resident of Kot Behrote (Thannamandi); Sheraz Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Khablan and Abdul Rashid, son of Wazir Hussain, resident of Darhal. The police has registered   a case FIR No. 95/ 2017 against   the accused persons.
The vehicles seized by police carry registration numbers as: JK11B/6755; JK02BG/ 2787; JK02N/5780; JK02AE/6736; JK-21/ 8350; JK11A/6983; JK02AR/8563; JK03E/4887; JK12/7455; JK11B/ 4679; JK11B/1181; JK11A/ 4198; JK11B/4726; JK11A 5897; JK14A/2326 and JK11A/4055.
