16 pregnant women among 90 test +ve in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 31: Sixteen pregnant women were among 90 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir today.
Among them 24 are from Anantnag, 17 from Kulgam, 15 from Baramulla, 11 from Budgam, 10 from Kupwara, 8 from Srinagar and two from Shopian. Twenty among them are the people with travel history and all of them were in quarantine and majority of the other positive people were also under quarantine.
Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Salim Khan, told Excelsior that out of 510 samples processed at Microbiology Lab at CD hospital, 50 tested positive-17 from Kulgam, 15 from Baramulla, 12 from Anantnag, three from Tral Pulwama, one each from Srinagar, Shopian and Budgam.
He said that among 16 pregnant women who tested positive 10 are from Baramulla, five from Kulgam and one from Anantnag district.
He said one employee, Nursing Orderly in Microbiology, at CD hospital also tested positive for Coronavirus.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 723 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic lab SKIMS today and 21 tested positive. Among these cases, 11 are from Kupwara, seven from Srinagar including one sample received from CMO Srinagar, three from Anantnag and one from Shopian.
He said that the positive cases include 39-year-old man, 35-year-old woman, 4-year-old girl from Naseem Bagh and Habak Hazratbal in Srinagar, 25-year-old woman from Malik Mohalla Shopian, 32-year-old man from Rawalpora Kerewa Anantnag 30-year-old woman from Bemina Srinagar, 24-year-old man from Ganipora Langate, 70-year-old man from Verinag Anantnag, a 35 year old man and a 6-year-old girl from Natipora Srinagar, 26-year-old man from Avoora Kupwara, 24-year-old and 29-year-old men from Gulgam Kupwara, 25-year-old and 22-year-old men from Zurhama Kupwara, 32-year-old man from Taratpora Kupwara, 55-year-old man from Dardpora Kralpora Kupwara, 48-year-old man from Manzgam Kupwara and 28-year-old man from Baghi Mehtab Srinagar. All of them have travel history from Delhi and other places.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo told Excelsior that out of 125 samples processed at the hospital’s diagnostic laboratory two tested positive. They include 36-year-old man from Ohangam Budgam and 27-year-old from Hyderpora Srinagar.
Out of 171,045 samples processed so far in J&K, 168,599 tested negative while as 2446 tested positive, among them 1491 are active and 927 persons have recovered and 28 persons have died. There are 1491 active cases including 1111 from Kashmir division and 380 from Jammu division.
As per officials figures, 338 positive cases including five deaths and 122 recoveries are from Anantnag, 294 including four deaths and 26 recoveries are from Kulgam, 280 including seven deaths and 141 recoveries from Srinagar, 268 including 75 recoveries from Kupwara, 232 including 103 recoveries and five deaths from Baramulla, 146 including 134 recoveries and one death from Bandipora, 170 including 108 recoveries and one death from Shopian, 110 including 61 recoveries and two deaths from Budgam, 32 including 24 recoveries from Ganderbal and 73 including 13 recoveries are from Pulwama.
As per administration, 172,844 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 35,572 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 1491 persons are in hospital isolation while as 45 persons are under hospital quarantine. Among them 86,289 persons have completed surveillance period and 46,419 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 171,045 samples are available.
