KISHTWAR, Sept 21: The Forest Department has retrieved 16 kanals of forest land located in Nagseni area of Kishtwar Forest division.
Official sources said that Forest party led by DFO Kishtwar Sunil Singh, under the supervision of CF Chenab Circle, MP Dogra organised operation in the area with the assistance of field staff including Range Officer and removed encroachment on 12 kanal forest land in compartment No. 3C of Nagseni and four kanals in Compartment No. 8 Nagseni Range near villages Cherji and Piyas. This land had been occupied for agriculture and grazing purpose by the villages. They had also raised wood fencing on it. This fencing was also removed by the team. Nearly 186 kanals of forest land has been retrieved in Kishtwar Forest Division since April this year.
