JAMMU, Apr 19: Cabinet today accorded sanction to the promotion of 16 IAS and around 171 KAS officers besides appointment by promotion of four officers of Excise and Taxation (Gazetted) Service to the Time Scale of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service.
Ten IAS officers of 2002 batch namely Saurabh Bhagat, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Hilal Ahmed Parray, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Dilshad Khan, Basharat Saleem, Tsering Angchok, Shafiq Ahmed Raina and Sajad Ahmad Khan have been promoted to the Selection Grade of IAS with effect from January 1, 2015.
Similarly, the Cabinet accorded sanction to the promotion of three IAS officers of 2010 batch namely Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Niraj Kumar and Kumar Rajeev Ranjan to the Senior Time Scale of IAS with effect from January 1, 2014.
It also accorded sanction to the promotion of three IAS officers of 2011 batch namely Deepti Uppal, Bhupinder Kumar and Ramesh Kumar to the Senior Time Scale of IAS with effect from January 1, 2015.
In another decision, the Cabinet ordered the release of Selection Grade of KAS in favour of 171 officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS), which were hanging fire due to litigations and other issues since long.

The Cabinet also accorded sanction to the appointment by promotion of Shyam Sunder Gupta, Pawan Kumar, Bharat Singh and Mansoor Aslam Choudhary, officers of J&K Excise and Taxation (Gazetted) Service, to the Time Scale of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) with effect from December 6, 2010.
It also approved release of grade of Time Scale of KAS with effect from December 6, 2010 in favour of Naresh Kumar Choudhary and Abdul Qayoom Ahanger, retired officers of the J&K Excise and Taxation (Gazetted) Service.
Meanwhile, Government accorded sanction to the release of grade of Time Scale of KAS in favour of Ashok Kumar Kohli with effect from January 1, 2013 to March 31, 2013 on notional basis without payment of arrears for the period with effect from January 1, 2013 to March 18, 2013.
