RAJOURI, Oct 24: Giving practical shape to its commitment of maintaining peace and order in Rajouri, authorities have taken sixteen persons into preventive custody after their repeated involvement came to fore in different cases which primarily include drugs peddling.
In a recent meeting of the Police department, a threadbare discussion was held on activities of all those notorious persons who are becoming a threat to peace. Help of intelligence agencies was also taken in shortlisting all such persons with main focus on notorious drug peddlers who not only remain involved in drugs peddling but also triggered unlawful activities many a times.
Later, different special teams were framed by SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas and each team was led by an officer DySP HQrs Jaswant Singh, DySP OPs Sukhdev Singh, SHO Rajouri Ajay Chib, Insp Altaf Ahmed and Incharge Police Post Rajouri City, Danish Maqbool under the supervision of Addl SP Mohd Yousaf and during series of raids conducted in and around Rajouri town, sixteen such persons have been detained under orders of Executive Magistrate and taken into preventive custody and have been lodged in District Jail, Rajouri in judicial custody.
Most of the people taken into preventive custody were indulging in drugs peddling and becoming a major cause of worry for whole society.
Police team also faced resistance while detaining many of these persons but managed to nab them.
The detainees included- Ifroz Bukhari alias Chotu Shah, son of Munawar Shah, resident of Dhanore in Rajouri, at present Gujjar Mandi, Rajouri; Rakesh Kumar Hondia, son of Meshpal Hondia from Malik Market, Rajouri; Mukash Kumar, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Talari, Kotranka at present Rajouri; Mohd Arif, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Peer Kanju, Rajouri; Shahbaz Khan, son of Mohd Raiz, from Chandimarh Poonch and at present ward No. 8, Rajouri; Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Malik Market, Rajouri; Zaheer Abaas, son of Abdul Ghulam, resident of Behrote, Thanamandi, at present Ward No. 2 Rajouri town; Basit, son of Mohd Saleem hailing from Kakora, Manjakote, at present Umar Colony, Rajouri; Abid Hussain, son of Mohd Shabir, resident of Bela Colony, Rajouri; Ravi Kumar, son of Raj Kumar Sharma from Dhani Dhar, Rajouri; Tahir Shah, son of Naseer Hussain Shah, resident of Dhani Dhar, Rajouri; Rameez Hussain, son of Mohd Bashir from Aitti, Rajouri; Tanveer Hussain, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Thudi, Rajouri; Amit Kumar, son of Yog Raj, resident of Ward No. 10 Rajouri; Rishabh Sharma, son of Surjeet Kumar, resident of Ward No. 10 Rajouri and Naseer Mahmood, son of Ghulam Mohd from Dassal, Rajouri.
It may be recalled that 30 persons were also detained in preventive custody a couple of months earlier in district Rajouri.
