16 bovines rescued, people protest over rise in smuggling incidents

BHADERWAH, July 6: Sixteen bovine animals were rescued by locals, which the smugglers were smuggling to Kashmir. However, people held protest to express their anguish over the rise in the incidents of bovine smuggling.
As per police sources, 16 bovine animals were rescued by the people of village Chinta from the clutches of unknown bovine smugglers who were carrying them in a vehicle without registration number late last night.
The driver of the vehicle escaped from the spot taking benefit of the darkness.
Locals immediately brought the matter into the notice of the administration, who rushed to the spot and handed over the bovines to owners.
The people of Bhaderwah held a protest at Udrana against the increasing incidents of the smuggling of the bovine cattle.
On getting information, officials from the administration rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that the culprits will be booked under law and the permit of the vehicle will be cancelled at the earliest. The officials also assured the protestors that efforts will be made to minimize such incidents of smuggling.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed.
