UDHAMPUR, Sept1: Udhampur Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling in Flata area and rescued 16 animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir valley.
Based on reliable information, a Police party, led by SHO Rehambal, Insp Sanjeev Chib, laid a surprise naka at Flata yesterday and signaled a vehicle (Dumper), bearing registration number JK14D-8077 to halt.
On seeing policemen, driver of the vehicle attempted to flee and broke the barrier. Police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it. However, in the process, driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
16 animals were found packed inside the vehicle, which were rescued by the Police.
In this regard, a case FIR No.138/2017 u/s188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Rehambal.
