1568 migrant voters in Drugmulla DDC, none in Hajin

JAMMU, Nov 17: Out of two District Development Councils (DDCs), seats in Bandipora and Kupwara districts of North Kashmir where re-polling is being held on December 5 there are no registered migrant voters in DDC constituency, Hajin -A in Bandipora district while 1568 migrant voters are registered in DDC constituency of Drugmulla in Kupwara district.
The elections will be held on December 5 through ballot and authorities have established two booths one for each constituency at Government Girls High School, Talab Tillo, Jammu and Government Middle School Jagti Nagrota.
This was stated by Dr Riaz Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner, Relief, Jammu and ARO Migrants while talking to Excelsior here today. He said the migrants can avail the option of postal ballot too and for circulation of postal ballots the last date is November 21.
He said those voters are eligible to cast the vote whose names are in voter list of 2020. All those candidates will be in race who had contested the election in 2020 except the one each in both constituencies who was declared ineligible for contesting the elections as they had entered wrong information in Form 6 and voting held in both the constituencies was declared void.
He said the result will be declared on December 8. He said the DMPB-1forms and other information for casting the vote for migrants will be available at 16 places in Jammu and transit camps in Kashmir valley for bonafide voters. Besides, this information can also be downloaded from the website ceojk.nic.in, he added.
He said the Government will provide free of cost transport facilities to migrants from their respective areas to polling booths on the polling day.
